Maicen Young - Founder

Hi there, my name is Maicen (Mason) and I am a full Chinese-American who grew up in the Boston area. My grandparents were the first in my family to come to the United States and made their livings through the restaurant and laundromat industries.

Currently I work in SaaS specializing in Sales Strategy & Operations. In my spare time, I enjoy coaching and playing volleyball, watching bad but good action movies (shout out Fast & Furious no friends just family), and accumulating items I’ll use once but never again.

What I’m looking forward to most is providing an avenue for our contributing team to develop their reflective processes and find their personal voices. Along the way, it’s imperative to me to explore the many groups within the “Asian” world, and highlight the overlaps (both good and bad) between Asian-Americans and other minority groups so we can move forward together.

Chelsea Hu

Chelsea Hu is a graduate of Boston University where she studied Neuroscience and Business Administration. Following this, she moved to Chicago to receive her Masters degree in Applied Statistics from Loyola University Chicago. She is now a data analyst working in the healthcare insurance industry. In her spare time, she enjoys playing volleyball, playing piano, cooking, and trying out new restaurants and activities.

As a child of Chinese immigrant parents, she noticed various cultural differences between her upbringing and those of her predominantly Caucasian peers. She also noticed the stereotypes and stigmas held against Asian Americans. Her curiosity regarding these observations led her to take the opportunity to research how these factors played a part in mental health. With this project, she hopes to be able to provide a platform both for creatives to share their Asian American experiences with the community and for the community to come together and relate to each other’s shared experiences.
